Change In a Portrait

Change, a short six letter word that weighs the whole world. It is sad for me say, that i live in a center of a circulation, among it i was, and fortunatley i interviend and ended up in between. Any movement will suck me back in..

History, a dusty collection of visions, words and numbers that repeats itself always keeps on baffling me, does Change exist? If we can change then why would we not? Or does this dying world apeal to us and so, we choose to stay still?

As i have learned, Change is a word that belongs to or reffers to a single entity, and by single i mean; one that has no other, an example would be an individual living being. As i see it, People change but individually and not as a whole. And these changes happen and they happen across time and they are very much identical. Bad turns to Good, while good turns to bad, as it keeps the equation of life balanced as it is. The same equation that repeats itself over and over again.

Open your mind with me and feel this golden hand you are about to hold as i guide you to witness a beautiful portriat. Change In the portrait of Dear Kuwait.

I am here to challenge the unbeatble, to challenge and to defeat the unbreakable. to Change the Unchangble. To put my brush and to ask you to put your brushs in the color of change and to paint it onto out magnificent portrait. We need it, before we lose, for our next generation not to fall into our same holes.

What i am asking for is very much impossible, but i believe that impossible is a word that can be written and that exists. Belief breaks all expectations, so you my friend, tell me, what's there to lose? Just believe in something.

I will leave you with only these humble words. And i will start discussing my major points in my next posts Enshallah :)

Yours truley, Sa3ood Alterkait

What has our Kuwait come to??

Why do i have to point out the negative aspects of our beloved country? what have we become? Vitamin W = Wa96a! in english terms "having connections" yes you name it WE GOT IT...... in our kuwaiti society wa96a has become our great downfall..... from getting your drivers license, to getting a better managerial position at your office. im no saying wa96a is bad im just saying that to everything there is a limit.

How do you expect yourself to be a middle school graduate and of lesser knowledge and experience to be in command of a person who has 10 times the qualifications you have. yes im talking about a college or even a masters degree, my dad tells me that one of his higher superiors doesnt even speak english to deal with the foreign companies and has no background on the kind of machinery they are supposed to use at the company.  He has a high school degree yet his salary is 1200 kd..... hmmmmmm obviously were going the wrong way then.... why do we some college graduates in kuwait waiting for a complete year just to be thrown in someplace where their degree has no affect on their current job!.

yes we do have a low rate of unemployment, but that doesnt take away the fact that our infra structure is based on a negative aspect... ie. instead of being survival of the fittest and smartest were being survival of the people who have better connections than others!

we were pearl of the persian gulf in the 60's 70's and 80's !!! now all we have are fakers who try to get the extra benefit of being a parliament member for the extra amount of money being involved.!

YES money thank god we live in a rich country whos blessed with oil! yet  we only allow our country 1/12th of the foreign investment compared to DUBAI..... we continue to spiral down . in sports, politics, achievements , and so on...... we need a new generation of thinkers a new generation of inspirationalists! we need young ambitious people who will benefit the country at all costs and will be loyal to all kuwaiti laws and abide by the government....

but we have to start a new page and start at chapter one......

Swine Flu, Swine Flu, Swine Flu..

Many people have been asking me " did u catch swine flu ?" god, please stop asking, you'll know it when i start saying/writing/typing "OINK OINK" instead of this..

thank you

How has English affected other languages ?

We were talking yesterday in class about the 'Spanglish' language that is used here in the USA. Basically 'Spanglish' means using Spanish words as English words or mixing them together. While we were talking about it I noticed that this thing is not going on in the USA only. My classmates from Brazil, Korea and Thailand noticed this in their countries too. They even give names such as "Arabish" that teenagers and younger adults from the Middle East usually use on the internet and sometimes while speaking to each other.

Let's talk about Arabic in Kuwait for example. We know that Kuwait was formed by people from many countries and cultures, and that people learned many accents and languages from other countries that after a while got mixed with the Arabic language, especially words from India and Iran that many people use nowadays in Kuwait, but if we think carefully about it we will notice that English has taken a large part in our language too. We can see that many people nowadays use 'Hi' and 'Bye' instead of 'Alsalam alekum' and 'maa alsalama' not to mention how we name most electronics such as 'mobile' or 'telephone' or lets say the 'brake' in cars. These words came from the English language and are now used instead of the Arabic names of them. People even mix the English words with Arabic letters so that they can make that word a plural, for example, if I wanted to say 'Brakes' I would say 'Braikat' which means the same thing. Another example for saying 'My Mobile' people tend to say 'Mobily' which means the same thing also.

And simply to prove this thing is happening, I'm a Kuwaiti guy who is a part of this blog and I write in English most of the time.

Keep Kuwait Clean!!!! KKC

ok .... from the title of my post im sure you all would agree that we should and/or would keep kuwait clean. The reason i brought all of this up is becoz the amount of careless people i spot in kuwait, we are such a spoiled country that we even expect indian workers (tanzifco) to clean up after us!!!

What happened to our morals and customs, isnt cleanliness part of our faith? To put it forward everywhere you go you see TRASH, Streets, people throwing out of their cars, amusement parks, roads, even the supposedly clean beaches are so dirty.

what caught my attention more is the hundreds of people who go to the sunny beaches especially on gulf road and take their food and dump everything there! sometimes i blame my own compatriats; yes us kuwaitis if foreigners see us pollutiong and dirtying our own country and environment do you expect them to do the opposite?

i tried to organise an event once off of facebook , a group that i created and called Keep Kuwait Clean , only about 15 people showed up but even with that number we managed to clean about half of the beach that is between Fridays and KFC , you dont wana know what we found there, the pictures speak for themselves. Some of the things we found were, plastic bags, underwears, socks, shoes, slippers, dead fish, kfc food and bags, broken glass, cans, oh did i mention condoms and tampons and diapers full of shit? and many other sick stuff as well ... here are a few pics in my facebook group http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=67544436122&nctrct=1239336605531#/group.php?gid=15903289228

somehow even a piece of carpet made its way onto the shore? amazing huh? it even gets better, we managed to fill 30-40 trash bags just by cleaning halfway? No wonder its a tiresome job! seriously if every person or family takes trash bags with them and clean after themselves it wudnt be this bad. After all the beach is a natural wonder that we are supposed to look after, i mean look at the beaches in europe n.america and australia! hell even thailand have clean beaches!

Why when we are blessed with such a beautiful country and thank god we dont have a shortage of funds or people who are willing to volunteer! So all that remains is what....? the awareness of the people in and around kuwait.... so the future generations will benefit from what we did or are supposed to do today! Even European and American people who reside in kuwait have negative remarks to make about our beaches!
Maybe sometimes we need to take the positive doings of our Western friends, like when we go to fast food shops or starbucks and finish our meals we should throw the wrappers and stack the trays and be responsible! i do it all the time and so can you! even the employees look surprised when i grab my own coffee mug and give it back to them? is it that rare or wondrous for someone in kuwait to do that?

Ignorant People Ring A Bell?

Ok so to start out this topic i encountered a very strange situation, one that i thought i would never have to go through. This situation is specific for middle eastern students who study in USA, when people ask you where r u from? u reply back Kuwait for example. They seem utterly clue-less about kuwait or any of the surrounding regions or countries. Well some people might get offended and start implying that all Americans are ignorant and live in their own circle of life.

Well to some extent that may be true , but lets not forget something, in every country you are bound to find someone who has no idea watsoever about a utility called atlas or world map.

Im a geography minor so i could probably point out alot of countries and capitals but that doesnt take away the fact that people are STUPID when it comes to geography and country location! Yes and i said people not only americans .... im referring to this group ---> http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/group.php?gid=2210761124

where mostly americans are targetted.

ok to finalize my point is i met this newly graduated from high school kuwaiti guy, and he had a couple of questions to ask about road trips in usa. he predicted that from oklahoma to canada it takes 8 hours to drive. well that was a prediction so i cudnt blame him, but it was where he got his prediction from.

he thought canada was south of oklahoma, -----> Hello Mexico Anybody Como Estas? yes u guessed it he thought mexico was in the north.! they say a picture is worth a thousand words...

well this picture with one post is worth a million AWES.!
Fact: From oklahoma to the mexican border it takes you almost 14 hours. ;)
